WHY
EMMAUS ROAD?
You might be wondering, “why did he call his ministry; Emmaus Road?”
The road to Emmaus story, as recorded in the 24th chapter of the Gospel of Luke, has been a formative portion of scripture in my life and ministry for over 30 years. It guided and gave shape to my graduate work and subsequent ministry to youth and family in the first congregation I served as an associate pastor, then again as I served as their lead pastor. It is a portion of scripture that aligns beautifully with relational discipleship, the hallmark of Real Life Ministries (Post Falls, ID), where I served as pastor for 12 years.
And now, as I embark on this new calling, it’s once again an integral component to my overall philosophy and methodology as a pastoral (biblical) counselor, care giver and life coach. Emmaus was that place where Cleopas and his friend invited their traveling companion to stay with them, where bread was blessed, broken and shared, where eyes were opened and where Jesus was recognized, where eyewitnesses of the resurrected Lord were launched into evangelism! Emmaus is a place of hospitality, of welcome and invitation – where there is broken bread and table fellowship.
Emmaus is that place where we encounter the sacred, where we receive spiritual sight, where the Holy One becomes real for us. Emmaus is where we encounter the birth of faith, where our Christian life begins. Emmaus is that place where Christian witness is refueled and re-energized, it’s the launching pad of our mission to bring the Good News to all nations.

At Emmaus Road Counseling, we are dedicated to walking alongside individuals on their journeys of faith and healing, inspired by the profound encounter on the road to Emmaus. We believe in the relational, incarnational and transformational power of Scripture and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit.
Our mission is to providecompassionate, Christ-centered counseling that illuminates the path to understanding, hope, and restoration. By fostering open dialogue and spiritual growth, we aim to help each person recognize the presence of Christ in their lives, guiding them toward renewed purpose and deeper connection with God and community.
At Emmaus Road Counseling our vision is to cultivate a community where individuals encounter the healing and revealing presence of Christ, much like the disciples on the road to Emmaus.
We aspire to create a safe space for spiritual discovery and emotional restoration, where every person can recognize their journey in the light of God’s Word.
