Welcome to Emmaus Road Counseling.
I am grateful for the opportunity and invitation to join you on the road you are walking.
It is never easy to admit you need help, harder still to then reach out for it. I truly admire the courage, faith and humility that this first step represents on your part. The Bible says in 1 John 1:5-7, “This is the message we have heard from him and declared to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”
It is my prayer that God will bless this first step, a conscious and courageous decision to move from darkness to light, and use our time together to continue that journey; one step at a time. This unique partnership begins as you complete the intake forms you are now reading. They’ve been designed to:
(1) help me get to know you in a more comprehensive, holistic and efficient manner and
(2)help you to better organize your thoughts, concerns, questions and counseling objectives.
In this way we begin to hold God to his promises!
The Bible says in Proverbs 27:17, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” There is mutual benefit in the rubbing of two iron blades together; the edges become sharper and more efficient to fulfill their purpose. By God’s design true Christian fellowship (exhorting, encouraging, confessing, repenting, praying, admonishing, forgiving, worshipping, etc.) rooted in and shaped by God’s word (itself described as “a double-edged sword”) will have the same effect on our spiritual lives; we become sharper and more efficient to fulfill our purposes in God’s kingdom.
